Johan Santana
I just finished watching Johan Santana pitch his first spring training game and i must say that i am impressed. He had good command of his change-up and fastball and looked good. He did how ever give up a solo home run to Dan uggla but i think we have all come to grips with the fact that Johan goes after hitters and from time to time he gives up Home Runs but that would have to be the mans only weakness. last year he pitched 234 innings and only gave up 206 hits with 206 strike-outs. He had the lowest ERA in the MLB with 2.53. If i had the first pick in my league i will definitely take this guy because i think he is going to have a break out year and will win the CY Young.

Buy Manny Ramirez's Boston Penthouse
I know this isn't fantasy baseball news but it seems anything that involves Manny Ramirez these days we all seem to drop what were doing and tune in.After signing a 2-year 45million dollar deal with the Dodgers that Manny was finally able to move on from his boston days and put his Boston Penthouse up for sale.

Kosuke Fukudome Fantasy Value
Well according to the Chicago sun times Kosuke Fukudome will be platooned in center field with Reed Johnson. If this report is true this is really going to effect Fukudome's fantasy value with getting probably half the games he would normally get.
You should definetly pass on this guy on draft day or find a replacement for him if you have a keeper league right away, his fantasy value has dropped next to nothing.

David Price Quick Note
Well it seems after a good pitching performance from Jeff Niemann on Tuesday afternoon that David Price is looking like he'll start the year in the minors.
This is definetly going to effect his fantasy value, i do see him coming up sometime through the year but everyone was thinking this kid is going to start the year in the majors and its going to effect when you draft him. I wouldn't suggest taking him til the late rounds of your draft. The kid has Ace stuff and you should follow his progress through the minors leagues.

Yovani Gallardo fantasy outlook
One of the most anticipated pitchers of 2008 gets hurt after only 4 games and is out for the season. This kid is back and ready to rebound from a dissappoting 2008. The kid just signs a one year deal with the brewers and pitches a 1 hitter through 3 innings in his first spring training start since signing his new contract. He struck out 5 guys in the start on Tuesday.
I think this kid is going to be a future super star and with the line-up behind him this season i see him winning 15+ games and getting 140+ strikeouts which makes him a good option towards the later rounds in your fantasy draft.

Manny and Dodgers nearing a deal
Foxsports.com reports
We all kind of know that Manny will sign with the dodgers because the dodgers need him and really are the only ones willing to fork out the money that he wants. His fantasy value will be way up in a line up where they can't pitch around him like if he would of went to the Giants where he would of had no protection. In 53 games with the Dodgers Manny hit .396 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs. With those numbers over 53 games think about the numbers he could put up over the hole season.
The Dodgers are "making progress" toward an agreement with free-agent left fielder Manny Ramirez, but no deal has been reached, according to a major-league source.Source Link

Lets talk about the New York Mets
The New York Mets have choked on the last day of the regular season to see if they make it into the post season. Now don't get me wrong i am a die hard Mets fan, but i do believe that the two past seasons they have been choke artists. Two seasons ago it was the offense towards the end of the season. Last season it was no longer the offense but the bullpen that blew 29 saves. This year they have corrected the bullpen issue with landing francisco rodriguezd as the Mets closer and have added J.J. Putz as the setup man. The pitching staff was a few changes but for the most part is the same one that went out there last year just a little better. Johan will have his second year in New York which is only going to make him better and then with the addition of one of the best closers in baseball that will save the games lsat years bullpen couldn't save for him which was at least 7. Mike Pelfrey will be in his third year of playing and if you believe in the 3rd year stand-by then you know this is the year that he will break out year. Oliver Perez hopefully not having to worry about pitching for a contract will calm down and pitch well. John Maine had off season surgery to remove a bone spur that the doctors called, "the biggest one they've ever seen", so far this spring training he said his arm was feeling great and a lot better from last year which was pain with every pitch. The 5th spot At the moment is up in the air. The likely candidates are Freddy Garcia, Jon Neise. The offense of the Mets is the same as it was last year with the addition of Daniel Murphy playing full-time left field. Luis Castillo has over the off-season lost 18 pounds and is in great shape, which should help him come back from a dreadful year in New York leading to him being on the DL on and off. The Mets this year i think will finally pull it together and make it to the post season and possibly win the World Series Championship.
Lets go Mets
Lets go Mets
Breaking news the reports are saying Nomar Garciaparra might be going to the Oakland A's
Well it turns out according to Ken Rosenthal that Nomar Garciaparra might be going to the oakland A's. He would be getting a 1-year deal probabaly playing backup to Eric Chavez.
His fantasy value i don't think would be anything at all unless Eric Chavez gets hurt and goes on the DL or if he doesn't get the starting job at 3rd base.
Nomar Garciaparra career numbers - BA:.313 OBP: .362 SLG: .562 HR: 224

Top 5 Starting Pitchers
Ok so everyone knows that in fantasy baseball you have to obtain a top starting pitcher for your team and if you are one of the few that don't get one of these you guys, you have some trouble throughout your season with lesser pitchers who don't get you the big points like the big boys do. So just quickly I'll go over the top 5 starting pitchers with Pros and Cons and if you should take them on draft day.
CC Sabathia, New York Yankees
Well everyone knows who CC aka "The hamburglar", the 300 pound phenom pitcher, who could of won last years National League CY Young award only if he would of got into the national league a little earlier then he did. Well the first thing i love about this guy is that he is a work horse, you can count on him giving you 200+ innings plus give you 200+ strike outs. He has a wicked slider that is just devastating to anyone he faces. The downfalls i see in CC is that he is indeed like 300 pounds, so he has to be basically dying out there in the summer heat. I think the biggest downfall is that the past 2 years in the playoffs he has a 1-4 record with a 7.92 ERA over those 4 games. The win he got in the playoffs wasn't a pretty one, he went 6 innings, gave up 3ER and walked 6 guys. So i really want to see what this guy is going to do under the pressure of pitching in New York which is like someone pitching in the post season.
Fantasy DRAFT YES or NO? I would definitely take him but not my first choice.
Johan Santana, New York Mets
This guy is in my opinion the best left hander in the game and future multiple National league CY Young Award winner. Johan is going to have a CY Young season with the addition of JJ Putz and K-rod. Last year the mets blew at least 7 games for Johan, so with the new revamped bullpen, Johan will be a 20+ winner this year.
Fantasy DRAFT YES or NO? He is going to have a great season and is the #1 pitcher on draft day and should be taken within the first 2 rounds.
Tim Lincecum, San Fransisco Giants
I wish this kid didn't pitching on the team that he does, if he had the hitting behind him like the Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, etc.. he would be a 24+ game winner at the least. This kid managers to go 18-5 on a team that there best hitter is Aaron Rowand. This kid i believe is going to have a great year for the reason of this being his 3rd year pitching in the majors.
Fantasy DRAFT YES or NO? I would definitely take this kid on draft day as my second choice.
Brandon Webb, Arizona Diamondbacks
You can't go wrong with a sinker ball pitcher who can win 20+ games and get you 180 strikeouts and is on a team that has some great up coming stars in Mark Reynolds and Justin Upton. He is going to have another great season with a good team who plays in one of the worst divisions in baseball.
Fantasy DRAFT YES or NO? Yes i would take him as my last choice in the Top 5.
Fantasy DRAFT YES or NO?
Roy Halladay, Toronto Blue Jays
This is another one of those pitchers i wish was on a better team but the blue jays aren't to bad so its not as bad as Tim Lincecum,. This guy is a work horse and will give you 220+ innings with 150+ strikeouts.
Fantasy DRAFT YES or NO? I would definitely take him on draft day he will have a great season.
I can't for fantasy baseball this year and watching the Mets becoming World Series Champions.
